The Beginning - God's Providence in the Creation of EOE Share

In January of 2015, Abisha Gross had been thinking seriously about starting a nonprofit based in the U.S. She was not sure what this would look like as she had little knowledge or experience in starting an organization.

"I wasn't sure what any of it would look like,"

said Gross.

I didn't really know much about nonprofit management and didn't feel qualified but I knew I was called. And that is the beauty of God's work, He qualifies the called."

Gross explained that it is so clear to see how God provided every single detail needed to start the nonprofit.

BOARD MEMBERS

The first need was a team of board members. In what seemed like no time to Gross, she found herself with 5 willing members, 4 of which filling the roles of board president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer.

BYLAWS

With an established board, the bylaws and articles of incorporation could be created. Details Gross admitted she could not have taken care of on her own.

501(C)3 STATUS

With the help of her board treasurer, Gross was able to file for 501(c)3 status.

Upon filing for 501(c)3 status, Gross' treasurer warned her not to expect a quick turnaround, as gaining 501(c)3 status usually takes a good amount of time based on his experience. He advised Gross to mark the organization as "pending" 501(c)3 status for benevolent envelopes. This way, individuals would know that they were hoping to be granted status and be tax exempt by the end of the year.

In April of 2015, a launch event was planned for the organization. This involved both U.S. and international members gathering together for the special occasion. The benevolent envelopes were printed and ready to go with the "pending" 501(c)3 status, prepared to hand out at the event.

One day before the event, Gross received notice of their approved 501(c)3 status, only one week following their submission. Gross' treasurer was astonished as this quick of a timeline was unheard of.

"God provided the funds, the people, and the status,"

stated Gross with humble gratitude.

"He provided all the pieces that were needed and it was all by God's hand. The biggest thing I saw God's hand in was the provision of the 501(c)3 status. It was like God was patting me on the back and saying 'yes, this is what I want for you and here is my blessing.'"

In the short time period from January 2015 to April 2015, Gross gained an established team of board members, documented bylaws, and 501(c)3 status. Milestones achieved only through God's providence in the creation of EOE.
